RESOURCE SHARING, FUN, AND EDUCATION

The East Valley Committee on Aging started in the 1980's as a specific committee for Mesa's Community Council. The committee had a staff person assigned to it and was under volunteer leadership of one of Mesa's outstanding dynamic pioneers - Clara B. Emmett. Clara devoted her services to EVCOA for more than 10 years.

In 2010, Steve Laughary was elected chair of the committee and has been in charge of it since. With help of Co-founder, Scott Savel, and encouragement from Marsha Goodman, Attorney, a new coalition was formed and the first meeting of the North Valley Coalition on Aging was held at Maravilla Scottsdale on April 18, 2013.

Kaye Baker, Vice President of Glencroft's Friendship Foundation, requested that we start a west valley meeting. The West Valley Coalition on Aging was founded and Glencroft Center for Modern Aging hosted our inaugural meeting on June 9, 2016. Glencroft has been an active participant and advocate to this day.

Presently, July 4, 2021, Co-Founder Scott Savel is contemplating retirement from the senior industry and his Director of Operations, Dustin Jackson, as Creative Director - who has been heavily involved with the coalitions is bringing fresh new ideas to the coalitions. We have formed the Arizona Coalition on Aging as the focal point for all coalitions under its umbrella. Now we have the East Valley, North Valley, and West Valley meetings.

This page will at some point be removed and all information is presently being placed on AZCOA.org once that website is active. For now, join us on our FaceBook Page and give us a "Like". We look forward to seeing you at our meetings!! Thank you for your support!
